Sebelum menyambut puncak dari musim penghargaan aka 2020 Oscars, Film Independent Spirit Awards telah mengumumkan hasil penghargaannya baru-baru ini, tepatnya pada Sabtu, 8 Februari lalu yang diadakan di Santa Monica, California. Acara yang dipandu oleh pembawa acara, Aubrey Plaza, ini menyajikan beragam nominasi film yang tak perlu lagi diragukan kualitasnya.
Dari berbagai nominasi, terdapat film-film yang menjadi nominasi teratas diantaranya ialah The Lighthouse dan Uncut Gems, serta bintang utama, Adam Sandler, juga mendapatkan individual nod. Film yang baru-baru ini rilis juga ikut dinominasikan sebagai Best Feature, seperti Marriage Story, yang dibintangi oleh Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, dan Laura Dern.
